الدكتورة ماريا كاسوريا أكاديمية ذات خبرة واسعة، وإدارية جامعية، ومستشارة مستقلة في الشؤون القانونية والتجارية، تمتلك خبرة عملية ممتدة عبر ثلاث قارات. قبل انضمامها إلى الجامعة الأوروبية في البحرين، شغلت منصب المدير التنفيذي للعمليات الخارجية في مكتب نائب الرئيس للشؤون الأكاديمية، وأستاذة زائرة في كلية القانون بجامعة ويست فرجينيا (WVU) في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية. وخلال عملها في جامعة ويست فرجينيا، تعاونت بشكل واسع مع جامعات وسفارات ومنظمات عامة من دول مختلفة في الشرق الأوسط وآسيا، لتأسيس شراكات أكاديمية وبحثية وأخرى متعلقة بالطلبة. وتشمل خبراتها الأكاديمية السابقة مناصب تدريسية وتعاونات أكاديمية في البحرين والإمارات، مع تركيز على القانون التجاري وتسوية المنازعات البديلة، وكذلك في إيطاليا حيث تخصصت في قانون المنافسة والقانون الخاص المقارن.

حصلت الدكتورة ماريا كاسوريا على بكالوريوس في القانون والمنظمات الدولية، وماجستير في القانون، ودكتوراه في قانون الأسواق، وجميعها من جامعة سيينا بإيطاليا.

وهي محامية مرخصة من إيطاليا ووسيط في المنازعات المدنية والتجارية. وهي زميلة في أكاديمية التعليم العالي منذ عام 2017، وزميلة في معهد المحكمين المعتمدين منذ عام 2019، وعضو في نقابة المحامين الأمريكية منذ عام 2016.

وبالإضافة إلى خبرتها الأكاديمية، عملت الدكتورة كاسوريا مستشارة عامة ومستشارة قانونية في البحرين، حيث أسست شركة استشارية في البحرين، كما عملت مستشارة قانونية في إيطاليا وعملت في هيئة المنافسة الإيطالية.

تتركز أبحاث الدكتورة كاسوريا على قانون المنافسة، لا سيما في الأسواق الرقمية ودول مجلس التعاون الخليجي، والقانون التجاري، والسبل البديلة لتسوية المنازعات. وهي خبيرة في الخدمات المصرفية المفتوحة والمنافسة، ومهتمة بالقانون والتكنولوجيا، والأمن السيبراني، والذكاء الاصطناعي. وتجدر الإشارة إلى أنها كانت زميلة شتيفل العالمية في مجال مكافحة الاحتكار وحقوق الملكية الفكرية في كلية الحقوق في نيويورك – معهد قانون المعلومات، نيويورك، الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية.

شاركت الدكتورة ماريا كاسوريا كمتحدثة في العديد من المؤتمرات الدولية، وشاركت في تنظيم ندوات ومؤتمرات بحثية، وعضو في مجموعة عمل لإنشاء مركز أبحاث حول قضايا النوع الاجتماعي وتمكين المرأة في الشرق الأوسط. وهي حالياً كاتبة مساهمة في ليكسيس نيكسيس الشرق الأوسط.
