International Foundation Programme (IFP)​

The University of London International Foundation Programme is a globally recognised qualification, offering students a direct pathway to undergraduate study at leading universities worldwide. The programme provides students with a direct pathway to undergraduate degrees in various disciplines.
Upon completing the IFP, you will be eligible for direct entry into Year 2 of all University of London undergraduate programmes offered at EUB. You will also qualify to apply for undergraduate degrees at the University of London and other universities in the UK, the GCC, and worldwide.
The foundation programme covers academic modules designed by the University of London as well as modules that support the development of Academic English Skills and Bahrain national compulsory modules. All of the modules enable students to develop their intellectual curiosity, develop the skills and academic knowledge needed to succeed in undergraduate studies.
Learning Outcomes of the IFP

By the end of the programme a successful student will be able to:
- demonstrate knowledge of concepts and principles associated with their area of study
- apply knowledge and evaluate academic content to make reasoned judgements on issues/problems related to their chosen undergraduate study
- demonstrate an ability to use academic study skills and English to present, evaluate and interpret information to reflect full participation in an academic context
- demonstrate and understand how to independently use the resources of the university to achieve academic objectives

What is the International Foundation Programme (IFP)?
The International Foundation Programme (IFP) is a one-year programme that will equip you with the academic and English language skills required to succeed in an undergraduate degree at Euro University of Bahrain (EUB). It also introduces international students to European higher education teaching styles. The IFP is designed and assessed by the University of London (UoL). Students enrolled on the IFP are registered as students of both EUB and UoL.
What are the entry requirements for the IFP?
You will need a Bahrain General Secondary Education Certificate with a 75% average or above in Years 10, 11 and 12. You will also need an IELTS score of 5.5 overall, with 5.0 in each sub-test (Academic), or an equivalent English language qualification awarded within the past two years. The IFP will consider other qualifications on a case-by-case basis and will consider equivalent international qualifications.
What subjects will I study during the IFP?
The IFP consists of core academic modules, English study skills modules and modules on the Bahrain education system. The four core academic modules are Mathematics and Statistics, Economics, Law, and Business and Management. The English modules are Academic English 1 and Academic English 2. The Bahrain national modules are Arabic Language, Bahrain History and Human Rights. The English modules aim to prepare you for undergraduate-level study at a UK university. They cover academic writing, referencing, speaking, reading, listening and effective learning strategies.
What are the progression options after completing the IFP?
After successfully completing the IFP, you can progress directly to year two of your undergraduate programme at EUB. You can choose from BSc Computing, LLB Law, or BSc Business Administration with specialisations in Human Resource Management, International Business or Marketing. Passing the IFP programme means you do not have to take any further IELTS examinations, and you will also have completed all the required compulsory Bahrain modules.
When you successfully complete the foundation programme you can also choose to apply to other universities. The IFP certificate allows you to apply for undergraduate entry to any UK university. Students who complete an the International Foundation Programme are guaranteed entry to several undergraduate degrees offered through the University of London.

What support is available to me as an IFP student?
At the start of the academic year, you will take part in a tailored IFP induction week. The IFP induction week aims to prepare you for your studies. You will be assigned an academic advisor who will support you with orientation, study skills and reviewing your results and progression. You will also work with your academic advisor on developing an employability folder, which will help you focus on your future degree choices and employment prospects. In addition, EUB has a student services team to support student wellbeing and pastoral care and to organise extra-curricular activities. The student services team can aid if you are struggling with your studies.
