Dr. Aljanahi was awarded B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) – K.S.A, M.Sc. in Transportation Engineering from University of Bradford, U.K., and Ph.D. in Transportation Engineering and Economics from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, U.K. He has an experience of thirty years at the University of Bahrain as he was promoted through the academic ranks to Associate Professor. During that period, he has held leading administration positions such as the Chairperson of the Department of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Director of Transport and Road Studies (CTRS), and Director of Centre of Measurement, Evaluation and Development (MEDC). His practical experiences extended through his expertise in engineering, transport, economics, and postgraduateeducation, as a consultant and advisor in many entities in private and general sectors locally, regionally, and globally. In 2016, he was assigned as the advisor to His Excellency the Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications. He was involved in mega projects such as Bahrain Metro, King Hamad Causeway connecting Bahrain and K.S.A. by rail, among other projects.
