Dr. Nikolaos Stamatakis holds a Habilitation (HDR) from the University of Paris-Saclay in France and a Docentship in Law from the University of Eastern Finland. He has also completed his post-doctorate at the University of São Paolo (Centre for the Study of Violence), Brazil. In 2013, he obtained a double Ph.D. in Criminology from Belgium (Ghent University & University of Liege), while already holding a Ph.D. in Sociology from Athens University for Social & Political Sciences in Greece (2007). In addition, Dr. Stamatakis holds a M.Phil. in Law from University College London / UK, a LL.M. from National University of Ireland, a M.A. in Criminology from Catholic University Leuven in Belgium, a PG Diploma in Restorative Justice from Queen’s University, Canada, a Certificate in Victimology from Tokiwa University, Japan, and he recently completed a MA in Religion (Peace & Conflict) from Uppsala University, Sweden and a MA in Education from Tartu University, Estonia.

Dr. Stamatakis has also worked in organisations such as the Greek National Centre for Social Research, the European Commission, the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, the Penal Reform International (Kazakhstan), the Criminal Sanctions Agency of Finland, the New Zealand Police, and the US Federal District Court in LA. Dr. Stamatakis was also recently involved as a lead consultant in the Citizen Security Programme of the Trinidad & Tobago Ministry of National Security and for the National University of Vanuatu.
